On 24 October at 6 p.m. in the space of the gallery “Art-pidval” in Kharkiv the project by Lviv artist Roksolana Uhryniuk “Subjective. Now” was presented.
For more than a year, the artist explores the influence of fears and social patterns on decisions and actions. Presented project “Subjective. Now” is the part of this observation. From the perspective of her experience, she addresses the questions “parents-children – connection of generations”, “search for a true self”, and “trace in the history.” In the project, the author experiments with the combination of routine objects and video-documentation of performances, highlighting the hidden feelings and looking for new contexts and metaphors.
“I build a recognizable but multi-meaning image, which legitimizes subjective concealed feelings. When the procrastination and the desire to hide from the world appear, the conscious is paralyzed with fear. The moments of destructive behavior and devastating loneliness. Elusive moments of weakness become the instruments of manipulations and victimization. For the environments, it is “production waste”, “defect”, as it is out of the ordinary. The crucified truth.”
Roksolana Uhryniuk works with performance, video, land-art, objects. She participated in many performance festivals, symposiums, residencies. In addition, in 2015-2018 she took part in the School of performance. Co-founder of the performative project ZABIH.
